The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Anambra State Command, has impounded a truck suspected to be conveying 45,000 litres of adulterated Automotive Gas Oil, AGO, mixed with gas condensates.
State Commandant, Maku Olatunde, disclosed this at the command headquarters in Awka, saying the truck was intercepted during an intelligence-led operation.
He noted that the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on sighting the NSCDC operatives.
According to Olatunde, credible intelligence led the Anti-Vandalism Squad, headed by CSC Chris Nwosu, to track and intercept the truck at about 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday along Awka Road in Onitsha.
The command said investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those behind the suspected illegal operation.
