The Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two persons transporting suspected adulterated diesel in the Suleja area of the state.

Parading the suspects in Minna, the State Commandant, Haruna Bala Zurumi, said when interrupted, the suspects claimed the tanker was loaded from Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

According to him, when interrogated, they could not present the waybill (pass) but presented a paper issued one year ago, 12 August, 2020.

The suspects are: 45-year-old Salisu Idris, who is the driver, and 25-year-old Bashir Mohammed.

Zurumi directed a laboratory test to be carried out on the sample of the product, adding that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

He warned the public to desist from such illegal acts and dealings in petroleum products or face the wrath of the law.

The Commandant further stated that the command will not relent in carrying out its mandate in the state.
