The Grand finale match of the Hon. Preye Oseke’s SILGA Unity football tournament has ended with Amassoma ward 11 beating Ukubie ward 16 by 2 goals.
The grand finale of the tournament was held in the Primarry school field of Ogboinbiri town, in Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State.
The three week long football tournament was organised to engage the youths of Southern Ijaw in meaningful activities that will keep them away from social vices. Above all, it is to further unite the people of Southern Ijaw and to promote peaceful coexistence in the area.
The competition had football teams from the 17 wards that made up the Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in Bayelsa State.
Koluama ward 17, the second runner up, went home with a cash price of five Hundre thousand naira and a bronze trophy.
Ukubie ward 16, the first runner-up won
a Silver trophy with N700,000 cash prize. While the golden trophy & a cash gift of one million (N1,000,000) was presented to the Winners, Amassoma ward 11.
In addition to the game, a tug of war between community women & the elders was organised to spice up the event.
Football enthusiast and Stakeholders present at the event commended Hon Preye Oseke for fulfilling the mandate giving to him to serve his people.
