OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELENCY THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF BAYELSA STATE
SENATOR DOUYE DIRI

On behalf of myself, the Diri/Law Entertainers, and all Entertainers in Bayelsa state, I want to congratulate the newly sworn in Governor of Bayelsa state in person of His Excellency Senator Douye Diri and his Deputy Senator Lawrence Erujakpor on their emergence as governor and deputy.

Indeed I publish to enlighten the new government that the plight of the indigenous entertainers and talented persons is one that is of our primary interest, one that is so important , and one that affects majority of the youths by influence or involvement as the entertainment industry stands one of the most fastest growing/influential industry in the world, raking in large revenues for governments that have identified it’s value through tourism, events, media, and lifestyle.

It was on this note that I and some others have in recent times seriously participated in the politics of our local governments and state to advocate and preach to you our elites/leaders the need to hold the plight of our dear entertainers in utmost importance, rather than sitting on the fence to complain and agitate as we are aware of the fact that to kick-start a successful industry, government policies and patronage is necessary, and I think the Prosperity Government will just start to write it’s name in golden light if it will immediately get to work on the already fragile, pale, and suffering entertainment industry.

I still stand to press on our initial demands that the government should create a (statutory) MINISTRY OF ENTERTAINMENT with effective and locally involved officials appointed/assigned to attend and over see the affairs of the entertainment industry.
This ministry should be separated from other sister ministries that attach responsibilities with other departments of youths and talents which over the years have left the entertainment industry to be least of government priorities.

Value should be placed on our entertainers as we urge proper empowerment and call on our Local Government Councils to follow suite in creating and funding similar offices to groom, empower and govern talents in their local governments.

We are a large and proud industry, to mention a few of the faculties/departments of the entertainment industry that compromises the following

Music
Producers, singers, instrumentalists, sound engineers

Movie
Producers, Directors, cinematographers, actors/thespians, editors, Costumiers, set builders, script writers, etc

Comedians/Mcs/Hypemen/Oaps

Pageantry/Runway/Fashion Designers

Disc Jockeys (DJ) s

Dancers

Marketers/PR/Bloggers/Managers/Entertainment outfit Executives(ceo)

Award Shows

Media
television/Radio/Social media

His Excellency, it’s no news that Bayelsa has world class talents ready for export and over time some of us have proven that stance by our breakthroughs, victory, and success on national and international platforms by winning competitions or succeeding in ourr solo careers, this can be built, amplified, and multiplied to a commercial commodity that our dear state can benefit from.

we the entertainers are the ambassadors of Bayelsa state, and we are the ones that market the ingenuity of our dear state to the whole world, and I think this image is one needed to dilute and give another side of the coin that has only our freedom fighting, resilient, and to some that stereotype, militant imagery we are currrently identified with. Also to note, the entertainment industry has a great role to play in reducing crime and all forms of social vices as we have the tools to role model, mentor, and influence the whole world.

This I believe is within your power and will to bring to bear and it’s on this note I(we) stood, supported your candidacy, campaigned to the nook and crannies, spent time/resources to mobilise and cast my(our) votes, & stood steadfast afterwards, which resulted into today that has brought your emergence as governor, so It’s on this note that I make this submission Sir, as the matter of our entertainers empowerment is beyond political interest but one of fulfilment of destiny and to the best of my knowledge I speak the mind of many.

God bless you
God bless your administration
God bless the entertainers and the entertainment industry of BAYELSA
God bless Diri/Law Entertainers

Yours
