2019: Youth groups back Varsity Don to replace Bayelsa Speaker

Youth groups from Southern Ijaw Constituency 4 of Bayelsa State have declared support for a lecturer of the State owned University, the Niger Delta University (NDU), Dr Michael Amaegberi as a credible replacement for the Speaker of the State House of Assembly in 2019.

The youth group, who were among the stakeholders of the PDP from Southern Ijaw Constituency 3 extolled the exceptional leadership qualities of Dr Michael Amaegberi stating that with his level of exposure and education, the people of SILGA 4 are sure to benefit much more than what they are used to.

The leader of the Youth Comrade Clinton .Brown, during an interactive session with the campaign Organisation of Dr. Micheal Amaegberi, said: “I have worked closely with him in time past and I can boldly say that he is a team player who at all times needed the collective reasoning of all his followers to arrive at positive decisions”.

Earlier in his speech, the aspirant, Dr. Micheal Amaegberi reaffirmed his commitment to serve his people as he vies for the House of Assembly seat in Constituency 4 in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Amaegberi said he is in the race to occupy the seat mainly for service and nothing more,” I promised to provide the kind of leadership and representation that is a departure from the old order. Our people need to be united more than ever before for it is the bedrock upon which development can be attracted to our communities. We need to collectively fight those elements that divide us and rebuild trust amongst us and restore hope to our people”.

On the claims that he had stepped down from the State Assembly race, Dr Micheal Ameagberi, stated that “Our attention has been drawn to a falsehood being spread by supporters of an aspirant which is making the rounds and almost going viral that Dr Michael Amaegberi JP, have stepped down for their Principal in the forthcoming House of Assembly election in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area Constituency 4”

“. This is malicious, ludicrous and intended to distract the public and particularly the good people of the constituency from the real issues surrounding the contestation for that seat.To keep the records straight, we wish to clarify that while Mr Speaker, Rt Hon. Konbowei Benson was speaking at the Constituency’s stakeholders meeting, he jokingly said Dr Amaegberi and another aspirant have in separate occasions agreed to step down for him during his ongoing consultations to contest for the seat for a record 4th term”

“. It was a huge joke that our Principal promptly refuted on the spot even though he was not given the opportunity to address or debunk it the way he would have loved to.Let us use this medium to further reiterate and REAFFIRM Dr Amaegberi’s resolve to effect positive change and provide purposeful representation for our dear constituency.”

“Like he said in his declaration speech, his aspiration is anchored on three pillars: to rebuild trust, reestablish unity and rekindle hope in our constituency. With all humility and modesty, we make bold to say that Dr Amaegberi has a DIVINE ASSIGNMENT to complete and he is the aspirant to beat in the forthcoming election in SILGA constituency 4 so it will be foolhardy for anyone to think that he will step down for anybody no matter how highly placed or influential he or she may be.”

“Finally, the election is a like game or contest that only one person will win. Dr Amaegveri will only respect the will of the delegates or our people after the last ballot is cast. We therefore urge our teeming supporters to remain resolute, steadfast and focused in all they are doing to market the best electoral brand in the constituency. Victory is sure to come and we will all rejoice at the end.”
