New Generation Leaders of Bayelsa state have said the government of H.E, Sen. Douye Diri, has brought more poverty and untold hardship to Bayelsans as against its Christened ‘prosperity’.
In a Press Release signed by its Director General (DG), Apostle Bodmas Prince Kemepadei, the group said the prosperity government led by Sen. Douye Diri has lost touch with the people of Bayelsa State and bereft of ideas to push the state on the map of prosperity.
The Press Release dated 11/7/2023 and titled “Court Cases: Prosperity Government scared of lmminent Defeat, Growing Popularity of Sylva/Maciver” stated that the remaining days ahead are countdown to the official handover of His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri as Governor of Bayelsa State to a new administration.
According to them, the “Prosperity” administration cannot boost of massive youths and women empowerment for the period it has been in power, making even political appointees and commissioners under their administration to become practical beggars.
While encouraging Bayelsans to remain hopeful for the Sylva/Maclver ticket, the group noted that the duo will address the prevailing political failure and massive hunger in the state as they’re known human capacity builders in areas of wealth creation and infrastructural development among others.
“The remaining days ahead are just a countdown to the official handover of His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri as Governor of Bayelsa State to a new administration under the leadership of His Excellency Chief Timipre Sylva.
“As the state gears up for transition in February 2024, fear and anxiety has already gripped the Prosperity led administration, knowing of their imminent defeat.
“We are aware that the prosperity government has resorted to begin an early chase through litigations, sponsoring fifth columnists and seeking to purchase court judgments as a short cut means to return to creek haven, this will amount to a futile exercise as youths of the state have unanimously resolved to put an end to suffering, hardship and the tag of ‘beggars’ used to brand Bayelsa Youths.
“As passionate Bayelsans and New Generational Leaders who owe the state a duty of patriotism; we categorically state the following:
“1: That the candidacy of Sen. Douye Diri and the prosperity led government has lost touch with the people of Bayelsa State.
“2: That being fully aware of an imminent defeat, they are busy misappropriating state funds; moving from Court to court, shopping for kangaroo judgments as short cut to power.
“3: We advice the prosperity government to begin preparation of the handover note as no purchased court judgement will serve as liberation.
“4: That the current status of Bayelsa State under the present administration is bedeviled with poverty, untold hardship and massive unemployment.
“5: That Sen. Douye Diri cannot boost of massive youths and women empowerment within his ” Prosperity” christened administration, even amongst appointees.
“6: That political appointees and commissioners under this administration have practically become beggars in a supposed prosperity government and their ministries are moribund.
“7: That the Duo, H.E Timipre Sylva/ Joshua MacIver tickets enjoys massive support from Bayelsans and will be sworn in Feb 14th 2024.
“8: That Sylva/ Maclver are known as human capacity builders in areas of wealth creation and infrastructural development in Bayelsa State. As such, will become victorious by November 11th polls.
“9: That this government is bereft of ideas to push the state on the map of prosperity.
“10. That this government have employed the use of propaganda and campaign of calumny as an attempt to create panic amongst teaming supporters of Sylva/Maclver.
“11. That the antics of this government through court cases and propagandas remains a futile attempt as the Sylva/Maclver pair continues to enjoy more support and wax stronger.
“12. We encourage this government to begin preparation for elections if they truly believe the people are with them .
“13: We encourage Bayelsans to remain hopeful and strong as the Sylva/Maclver tickets will address the prevailing political failure and massive hunger meted on the state,” the statement read.
