The Senator Representing Bayelsa West, Senator Friday Kombowei Benson, has been asked to concentrate on his alleged NYSC certificate forgery case and stop pointing fingers at the President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

In a statement by a Concerned Bayelsa Central Citizen, Senator Kombowei Benson was also advised to leave the Bayelsa State Governor, H.E, Senator Douye Diri, out of his certificate trials.

Pince Kelvin Kpun, in the statement, pointed out that both H.E, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and H.E, Senator Douye Diri are outstanding public servants with excellent track records without any questionable certificates.

He said Senator Friday Kombowi Benson should stop deviating from the issue at hand by trying to attract public sympathy, but rather, defend himself in the court if he is innocent of the allegations before him.

Thus, the statement said “the Senator Representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, Sen. Friday Konbowei Benson should face his case at the Federal Capital Territory High Court Apo, Abuja, with the Federal Government and leave H.E Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio and H.E Senator Douye Diri out of it.

“If he knows he is innocent as claimed, he should face his trial and defend himself at the court, he should stop dragging the name of the Senate President, H.E Sen. Godswill Akpabio and The Governor of Bayelsa State, H.E Sen. Douye Diri to public domain to attract sympathy, by way of deviating and digressing from the subject matter at hand

“The current Senate President, H.E Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio CON, is the 15th President of The Nigeria Senate, a second term senator representing the fabulous characters of Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, he was the immediate past Minister for Niger Delta Affairs from 2015 to 2019 and previously served as Governor of Akwa Ibom State from 2007 to 2015, an impeccable public servant with outstanding track records and excellent certificates

“Again, H.E Sen. Douye, the current Governor of Bayelsa State, serving his second term in office as governor, was the immediate past Senator representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District  from 2019 to 2020 in the Nigeria Senate, he also served as Congressman (House of Reps Member) representing the good people of Yenagoa/Kolokuma-Opokuma Federal Constituency, with other public offices held, too numerous to mention, is another very impeccable public servant with excellent certificates and outstanding track records.

“The aforementioned did not forge any of their certificates, so, Sen. Benson Konbowei should leave these very distinguished personalities out of his NYSC certificate forgery case.

“Distinguished Senator Cleopas Moses .Z. is a bonafide citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and once any crime has been committed he has every right to report this crime to the right authorities in charge as his civil obligation.

“Sen. Benson Friday Konbowei should not by way of digressing or deviating from the issue on ground and try to create any animosity between Sen. Douye Diri, Sen. Godswill Akpabio and Sen. Moses Cleopas. He should concentrate on his forgery case and leave them,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, Senator Friday Kombowei Benson, Senator Representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, had been on fire for alleged forgery of NYSC certificate.

NAIJA LIVE TV, on Thursday, 28th March, 2024, reported a N50million bail condition granted the Bayelsa Senator with two sureties having landed properties within the Court’s jurisdiction, which is Abuja.

In confirmation, Senator Konbowei’s Legal Team, in a statement, revealed that “Senator Konbowei Benson, has since met his bail conditions.”
