ADVERT RATE

The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, NIHSA, has issued a high flood risk alert for Bayelsa State, warning that 246 communities could experience flooding between July 30 and August 5, 2026.

According to the agency’s Flood Advisory, the affected communities are located in Ekeremor, Kolokuma/Opokuma, Sagbama and Yenagoa Local Government Areas.

The agency said although all its monitoring stations in Bayelsa are currently recording normal water levels, the state remains vulnerable to flooding due to rising upstream river flows.

NIHSA urged residents in flood-prone communities and relevant authorities to remain vigilant and take necessary precautionary measures.
