A political analyst, Surajo Abubakar has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State is totally dead following the defection of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Speaking with NAIJA LIVE TV in Gusau, Zamfara State, the analyst said the deputy Governor, Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Gusau who is riding on the back of his father can never achieve any success in Zamfara politics.

Abubakar claimed General Aliyu Gusau was not known in Zamfara State as a serious politician, alleging that he has not constructed a single hand pump in his own street nor done any meaningful work in the state.

“There is no doubt that General Aliyu Gusau is a very rich man but his wealth revolves around his family and friends”

“How can somebody waste his time and energy to fight for someone who doesn’t care whether you live or not”

Abubakar alleged that General Gusau was one of the people who killed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)in the state because he was not ready to roll out his money to support the party in the state

“It is no longer a secrete that Zamfara was a PDP state before 1999 but the internal crisis that rocked the party in the state denied the party a political relevance”

“Where was General Gusau when all these crises were going on in the state. He is being regarded as an elder but he was not able to address the teething issue until senator Ahmed Sani Yarima of the defunct APC snatched away the state from PDP.

“Did you know that in 1999 general elections, PDP in the state got seven out of the fourteen Local Government Area of the state even though there were internal crisis in the party”

“Mr. Yarima who later became the first executive Governor of the state in 1999 won with only numerical strength as both parties got seven Local Government area each”

“With that cracks on the walls of PDP, Yarima then rushed and implemented his political Shari’a to weaken the PDP in the state. If not for supreme court intervention, the PDP would have not formed any government in the state”

He said Governor Matawalle took a very wise step by defecting to the All Progressive Congress, adding that he would have ended up a loser in Zamfara politics.

He recalled that former Governor Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi did the same mistake in 2011 when he defected to PDP and did not achieve his second term ambition because of the political differences in the state.
