The lzon Cultural Heritage Centre (ICHC), an NGO in the Niger Delta, has trained and graduated 50 youths on vocational skills including Driving, Tailoring, POS Operation, Barbing, Graphices Design, Shoemaking, Content Creation, Soap production among others.

In a colourful graduation ceremony held on Saturday, in the  Houze-10 accommodations, along lmiringi road, Yenegoa, Bayelsa StgraduC also empowered 15 women who are into Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with N50,000 each to boost their businesses.

Apostle Bodmas P. Kemepadei, the Chairman of Izon Cultural Heritage Centre (ICHC), emphasized on the importance of the vocational skills and empowerment, noting that it would fast-track personal growth and economic development of the Niger Delta Region.

He further noted that the initiative was part of a vow made to Wòyin (name for God in Ijaw) and Humanity to make life easier for people in the Region.

“ICHC recognises that empowerment can break the cycle of poverty and uplift communities by providing access to skill acquisition programmes which encourages financial independence and creates job opportunities,” he said.

Apostle Bodmas commended the efforts of Niger Delta Leaders including High Chief Oweizidei Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo, High Chief Kestin Pondi (Managing Director Tantita Security Services Limited), Chief Godfrey Pondi (Managing Director Operations Tantita), Dr. Dennis Otuaro (Administrator Presidential Amnesty Programme) and Great Joshua Maciver (Coordinator, Tantita Security Service, Bayelsa Operations). The traditional Apostle said he drew inspiration from their commitment towards empowering and supporting people of the region.

The Stakeholder of the Presidential Amnesty programme applauded the graduate for their hard work, resilience and determination in the training that had a duration of  6 months, urging them to leverage the skills acquired to effect positive change.

Hon. (Dr.) Seperegha Ouseibai Godsgift, the Resource Person, while admonishing the trainees, implored them to utilize their skills to become financially Independent. He also encouraged beneficiaries of cash gifts and other starter packs to make judicious use of it in order to add value to the economy and their lives.
