A socio-political group, the Old Associates, has strongly condemned the abduction of Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro, a distinguished member of the judiciary and a respected voice in our society.
They declare the abduction shocking and deeply troubling, insisting it is not only a personal attack but a direct threat to law, order, and public confidence in Bayelsa State.
The Old Associates, in a statement signed by Dr. Evans Ogoun, Pst. John Okhai, Hon. Tamaratare Otis, Engr. Gift Omonibo and
Hon. Alasuonyo Mathias, the incident once again highlights the alarming rise in insecurity, which must be addressed with both commitment and urgency.
According to the group, “We further urge His Excellency, Governor Douye Diri, to take decisive and far-reaching steps to reinforce security and protect the lives and property of all Bayelsans. The safety of our citizens must remain a top priority, and such acts of lawlessness must not be allowed to thrive unchecked.”
“The Old Associates stand in full solidarity with the family of Justice Omukoro and extend our heartfelt thoughts during this distressing time. We call on all well-meaning residents of Bayelsa to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with efforts aimed at restoring peace and bringing the perpetrators to justice.”
