PORT HARCOURT: The Idumange Educational Foundation, IEF, has concluded plans to award scholarship to 250 Students in 4 LGA’s of Bayelsa State. This was discussed in a meeting with a representative of Unicef in Port Harcourt.

The Four pilot Local Government Councils include:
▪Yenagoa
▪Nembe
▪ Southern Ijaw, and
▪ Brass.
The scholarship will commence in January 2022.

The Assistant Director, Gender mainstreaming Mrs. Iniye Otonye-West disclosed that 50% of beneficiaries will be girls from rural schools. She lamented the neglect of the girl child in rural schools, adding that the Foundation will give priority attention to rural schools. Modalities for the selection of recipients are being worked out by the the staff of the Foundation.

In another development, the Foundation paid a working visit to the zonal head of Daar Communications, AIT in Port Harcourt to discuss a sensitization programme to be aired on television. The head of centre Mrs. Remi Olu-Akerele said one of the priorities of her office was to encourage educational programmes targeted at the education of youths. The tailor-made sensitization programme will start in December, 2021.
