“I dedicate my victory to all Bayelsans” – Bayelsa Governor-Elect David Lyon

Firstly let me  thank  God for making this possible and finding me worthy of service to the Bayelsa People.

Also allow me to thank President Muhammadu Buhari, the APC Governors and true progressives all around the nation, especially the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomole, the National Chairman of the APC Campaign Council and Governor of Jigawa State, Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar and the National Leadership of the Party, for the victory of the party at the polls.

Special appreciation to my party leadership and our dynamic leader and Minister of state Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva for all the support and encouragement during this most demanding time.

 Also, I appreciate the elderly advice and support from our traditional rulers, Community leaders and Youths in Bayelsa and beyond.

I can’t go on without commending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) , the various formation of our nation’s security agencies and the representatives of the International Communities, Election Observers and the Nigerian Media.

The victory at the polls is dedicated to all Bayelsans irrespective of party affiliations or loyalty.

I am aware that Bayelsa State has been unlucky with a selfless leadership in about eight years , but rather, a deep division amongst our people across ethnic and party lines. I want to assure all Bayelsans that my Government will be an all-inclusive one, even as I reiterate my commitment in doing everything possible within my powers to reunite our people irrespective of party differences and be fair to all in a bid to repositioning our state for greater development and empowerment.

My condolences go out to all those who lost their lives during this election, which is rather regrettable and needless at a time like this in our electioneering process. I want to offer my sincere condolences to all the families affected and promise to identify with them at this time of their grief.

I’d like to also appreciate my friends and associates, and indeed all Bayelsans home and abroad, who have contributed immensely to our success and assure them of my unalloyed commitment in making Bayelsa great again as we all desire.

Our Victory as a Party, irrespective of political affiliation, is a clear message that our dear state is ready and willing for a true change that will bring about prosperity and good governance.

Inspite of the fact that our people and the ijaw nation have suffered deceit and deprivation without a true connection to the National Level, it is our collective resolve to move the state to the next level with a renewed and dedicated partnership with the Federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari to move the state, the Ijaw Nation and the Niger Delta region to attain the desired sustainable development.
