The Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has led other notable Bayelsa politicians to condemn the Wednesday gruesome killing of a Stalwart of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon. Sunday Frank Oputu at his home in Yenagoa,the state capital.
Also condemning the killing are the Former Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri and the umbrella body of Ijaw Youths (IYC).

The Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, in a statement condemning the killing of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Sunday Frank-Oputu, has directed the police in the state to fish out killers.
Governor Diri, who condemned the killing
during the 73rd state executive council meeting in Government House, Yenagoa, on Wednesday, described the incident as most unfortunate and unacceptable.
He assured that those behind the dastardly act will be unmasked and made to face the wrath of the law and expressed his condolences and that of the government to the immediate family of the deceased.
Also condemning the gory killing, the Former Minister for State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri describes the killing of Hon. Frank Oputu as ” one killing too many”
Lokpobiri, who described the gory killing of Sen. Frank Oputu as barbaric, primitive and an act of cowardiceHe also described the late Frank Oputu as a man known for peace and was shocked to hear that his life was cut short by yet to be identified assailants under questionable circumstances.
While he comisserate with the family of the deceased, the people of Egbematoru Community of Bomo Clan and the entire Southern Ijaw Local Government Area for this irreparable loss, Lokpobiri called on the security agencies to carry out thorough investigation an bring the perpetrators to justice.
