Police orders Immediate investigation into killing of Influential Bayelsa APC Chieftain, Frank Oputu

…promise to arrest perpetrators

YENAGOA—The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the death of a chieftain of the Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Sunday Frank Oputu in Yenagoa.

NAIJA LIVE TV earlier reported that, the APC Chieftain, Frank Oputu was killed by unknown gunmen at his Yenagoa residence in the state capital.

Bayelsa State Command, the Police revealed that “on 26 April 2022, at about 23:00 hours, gunmen scaled the fence and gained access to the residence of Hon. Frank Oputu located at No. 1 Jonah Road Bay-Bridge, Kpansia, fired several shots at the Honourable through the window of his bedroom and fatally injured him.

“The injured victim was rushed to Federal Medical Center, Yenagoa, where he was confirmed dead. The corpse has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.”

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ben Nebolisa Okolo fdc, charged officers to intensify efforts to identify and arrest the perpetrators.

He further reassured members of the public of the Command’s resolved at ensuring the culprits are arrested and brought to book.

The Police boss also urged members of the public to remain calm as investigation is ongoing.
