The Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson was visited by a delegation of Officials Of the university of Louisville, Kentucky USA. 

They include Prof.Neal Dunlap, Professor of Oncology, Mrs.Tammy Thomas, Associate Dean Academic Affairs; Dr.Abdulrasul Ramji, Professor and Associate Dean-International partnerships; Prof. Craig Blakerly,Dean Faculty of Public Health; Karan Chavis Geneva,Chief of Staff University of Louisville Medical College and Mrs Zainab Abubakar, Assistants to the Provost College of Health Sciences with focus to explore areas of mutual academic benefit especially in public health and primary healthcare delivery.

Leader of the delegation Prof.Craig Blakerly,Dean Faculty of Public Health,commended the developmental strides in the State under the leadership of the Restoration Governor especially in the health sector. He lauded the Governor for creation of the Bayelsa Medical University Yenagoa to train manpower in the sector.

He stated that after the tour of the facilities at the Bayelsa Medical University he was impressed with the state of the art equipment at the University and the infrastructure on ground. He urged the Governor to support the University through funding and other technical assistance.

In his words Leader of the Delegation Prof.Craig Blakerly: “We are impressed by the advancement in the health sector in the State and the level of improvement in the Bayelsa Medical University project”.

In his brief remark, the Governor Hon.Henry Seriake Dickson stated that the need for collaboration between Bayelsa and the University of Louisville Kentucky,USA.

The Governor said he is satisfied with the progress made between the University of Louisville and the Bayelsa Medical University, Yenagoa. The BMU is a legacy of my Government and will be a Centre for leaving and excellence. According to him: “The Government will do it’s part in fulfilling its obligations of the MOA. 

I am also pleased that there is an Oncologist in the delegation because I intended to build an excellent Cancer Centre.

The BMU will also specialize in the area of Primary Health Care and will be affiliated to the University of Louisville” 

The Governor assured the Louisville experts of the security status of the State stressing that it is the safest in the country.
