With the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, finally making public the schedule for the Bayelsa West and Central Senatorial district bye-elections to hold on Saturday, October 31st 2020, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who doubles as the Deputy Minority Leader of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Wilson Ayakpo Dauyegha, has called on prospective aspirants in the forthcoming bye-elections to unite against the incursion of the immediate past governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson from getting the West District seat.

The Ekeremor-born politician and youth leader disclosed that with Dickson’s inversion in the senatorial race, Bayelsans – especially those of the West District comprising Sagbama and Ekeremor – should be mindful of Dickson’s deceitful and crafty political promises to lure himself to the senate without recourse to the people’s yearnings.

Hon. Dauyegha who stated this while speaking to newsmen in Yenagoa, calls on all interested aspirants from the APC for the forthcoming Senatorial seats to maintain the existing peace and camaraderie in the party so as to allow a free, fair party primaries to ensure that the best candidate flies the party’s flag against the main opposition party, the PDP.

According to him: “Dickson is doling out Greek gifts to induce ignorant and unsuspecting members of his constituency to endorse him as sole candidate for the senate. It will not work.

“The myriads of problems and bad governance Dickson left behind after eight years as governor of Bayelsa state are too fresh to forget. So, we must open our eyes to elect other viable aspirants but not Dickson who thinks he can highjack the process and lord himself over us by sponsoring a shameful political summit to endorse his bid with a call for zonal arrangement that he himself shall not abide by if he wins as he would still want to stay put in senate for a second term and even forever. He is that ambitious and too selfish to be allowed to sail through unhindered.”

He further charged prospective aspirants categorically: “I call on all aspirants in the senatorial race to unite against Dickson across party lines to ensure that he does not rig and highjack this process with violence or any other unlawful means which are his stock-in-trade.”

Hon. Dauyegha who called on all APC faithful especially those who were recently suspended to sheathe their swords as the party leadership is looking into the issues to ensure that all grievances are settled before the main poll so the party goes into the poll with a united and strong front to clinch the two senatorial seats in Bayelsa state.
In his words: “all we need now is for all us in APC to work in unison so as to win the senatorial bye-elections against Dickson and his party as he is likely to clinch his party’s ticket for the choice West Senatorial District seat.”

The APC Chieftain urged all party faithful to rally round interested aspirants as the party shall create an enabling environment for all aspirants to campaign peacefully and rally round party members to ensure a hitch free exercise.

The lawmaker hinted that the APC can boast of very credible and sellable grassroots aspirants for the Bayelsa West Senatorial seat such as a two-time Assembly lawmaker from Peretorugbene Federated Community in Ekeremor Local Government Area, Hon. Kemelayefa Omonibeke, who has all it takes to defeat Dickson and the PDP at the poll, due to his political sagacity and endearing spirit to the people, as well as the Ogobiri-born politician and former gubernatorial candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Prince Ebitimi Amgbare, who is an astute grassroots politician with finesse and also processes one of the finest qualities of leadership that endear him to his people.

Hon. Dauyegha averred that the APC is united against Dickson and his party and whichever of these two or others that may spring up as the party’s standard bearer for the senatorial bye-election, all APC supporters across board shall rally round the eventual candidate to ensure that the party carries the day in the forth coming poll so to join her counter-part in the Bayelsa East Senatorial District at the Red Chambers to agitate, make laws and push for developmental issues that shall attract immense dividends to the state and region at large.

Hon. Dauyegha expressed confidence in the ability of any APC aspirant who may eventually emerge as the party’s candidate to defeat the PDP considering the fact that Dickson’s eight years on the saddle has left the state in a debt burden too big for Diri to handle that is why the state is in comatose and in dire need of development and so the people are more at home with any APC candidate who carries the day.

Hon. Dauyegha used the opportunity to felicitate with the Party’s National Caretaker Committee as led by the Yobe State Governor, Mai Malla Buni and Chief David Lyon as the Bayelsa representative as they are on track to reposition the party ahead of the National Convention and other state and senatorial bye-elections so as not to lose any elections to the opposition party which lacks merit and has credibility issues to deal with.

He concluded with optimism that: “APC shall win both west and central senatorial bye-elections in Bayelsa state due to the failure of the former governor Seriake Dickson in his eight years of misrule that have shown him be a self-serving leader who is un-electable due to his politics of hate and nepotism committed against his own people. A man like Hon. Omonibeke has the where-withal to get the nod of people of Sagbama and Ekeremor to represent them at the senate due to his track record as a seasoned and articulate two-time lawmaker who can stand for the district any day.”
