YENAGOA – The Bayelsa State Chapter of the APC Integrity Group has expressed worry over attacks between members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

According to the group, whatever may have caused the alleged rift between Governor Douye Diri and former Governor Seriake Dickson remains a personal issue.

NAIJA LIVE TV earlier reported that a group of concerned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state had called on Dickson to explain his role in the collapse of the multi-billion naira Bayelsa Diagnostic Centre (BDC).

The group in a statement by its Chairman, Preye Perez, alleged that Dickson set up the facility to fail and to temporarily satisfy himself and some selfish interests.

They enjoined members of the public to compel Dickson to explain the circumstances behind the closure of the facility and also called on anti-corruption agencies to carry out a discreet investigation.

However, the Bayelsa Coordinator of APC Integrity Group, Fred Ayabowei hinted that “the Bayelsa Diagnostic Center was included in the documents received by the party transition committee which it also inspected before the unfortunate supreme court judgement of 13th February 2020.”

In a statement made available to journalists, Ayabowei noted that “If the Bayelsa diagnostic center is no longer functional as alleged by the non-existent concerned party members, then Bayelsans should hold Gov. Douye Diri and members of his administration responsible.

“In as much as the APC Integrity Group will not hold brief for Senator Seriake Dickson whose leadership style we are completely against for obvious reasons, it’s only proper to stand up for truth for the progress of the state.”

The group also averred that “while the prosperity government led by Diri may wish to discredit the man that brought Diri into power, it should desist from using faceless APC members to attack perceived political enemies or hide the massive failure of leadership.”

The group insisted that Bayelsans are aware of the failure of the Diri-led government, which it described as the “most retrogressive government ever in the history of the state including the military rulers.”

The APC group further called on the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva to contest the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

“APC Integrity Group is using this medium to warn the Bayelsa PDP to focus on their almost three years of failure and be ready to hand over to a progressive and more competent Sylva,” the statement added.
