Bayelsans Attack Gov. Diri over calls for Navy to Take over David Lyon’s Pipeline Surveillance contract

Bayelsans in their numbers have taken to their social media platforms, to rebuked and condemned the anti people statement credited to the governor of Bayelsa State yesterday, while meeting with the delegation from the House of Representatives committee on Navy and Naval affairs.

The governor was quoted while saying that, the spate of insecurities and youths restiveness in the Niger Delta, is as a result of the oil and gas surveillance jobs that are being given to hoodlums and thugs, that does not have the capacity to manage such contracts and jobs of such magnitude.

Saying that it will be better for the Navy to manage the Oil and Gas surveillance contracts and jobs for the general good of Bayelsa and Nigeria at large.

Going by that statement, Bayelsans especially those from the other political divide, have openly condemned the governor for being an enemy of the Niger Delta.

Many have expressed their disappointment with the governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri for his careless statement about the Oil and Gas surveillance jobs being in the hands of hoodlums and thugs; saying the statement is aimed at witch-hunting his supposed political enemies who are the major beneficiaries of the Surveillance Jobs.

Condemning the statement, Bayelsans who have been benefiting from the Surveillance Jobs stipends have been rebuking the governor since yesterday over his unguided statement.

Some beneficiaries of the Surveillance Jobs, said it is a pity that the governor would say a thing like that, that his statement is poised to deprived and impoverished the people of the Niger Delta, by taken what rightly belong to them and given to the Nigerian Navy.

Some called the statement by the governor as childish and hilarious, which is geared towards causing disunity and unrest in the Niger Delta region.

An aggrieved beneficiary of the Oil and Gas surveillance jobs, said it is laughable for your brother to remove what belongs to you and give to others who have no claim or right to the Surveillance Jobs.

Another angered youth said, the governor will not be different from his godfather (Hon. Seriake Dickson) in all intents and purposes, especially now that he is trying to remove the Surveillance Jobs from his follow Bayelsans and give to strangers, all the guise of curbing insecurity in the Niger Delta.

Currently, the atmosphere in Bayelsa State is rift with pandemonium over the unscrupulous statement by the governor, which the major opposition party, the APC faithfuls believes is targeted at them since majority of those who were given the Surveillance contracts are in the All Progressive Congress
