A lot of things went down on the 26th of December at Opkoama Beach Festival a yearly festival usually done in Okpaoma the home town of Former Bayelsa State Governor and the current Minister of Petroleum State Chief Timipre Sylva.
This year’s edition was organized by the Amayanabo of Okpoama’s son Prince Teme.
When Bayelsa based artists first got there the first question was from an unknown boy who approached the musicians and comedians with the word “are these the upcoming artists” this provoked a lot of comedians and musicians and the boy was put in place to address them better, after which breakfast was served to our home based artist at the Amayanabo of Okpoma’s palace.
No artist was given a place or hotel to sleep except a few who knew people in the community. At night the event started and of course our Bayelsa acts the likes of April Riddim, Mas, Ini Golden, Toby Rein, Jovin Jah Wondah, B2s and more wowed the audience before Omah Lay came and stole the show with his outstanding performance and girls screaming and crying to hold Omah Lay. Our very own super star Timi Dakolo gave a smooth rendition of his classic songs back to back after that few comedians like Mc Monica, Funny Effizzy, Mc Edo Pikin etc also thrilled the audience with jokes before Davido came in and shut down the stage.
The next day artists, dancers and comedians waited for hours to get paid and were delayed.
Immediately Chief Timipre Sylva and his entourage left they started calling artist to come and take their pay. There was a lot of shock and disappoint in the faces of the artists and comedians with a lot of artists and comedians rejecting the money saying it’s too small. Artists and artists managers got angry with what’s going on as 20,000 was put in every envelope as thanks for coming.
The major saga started with Mc Global who got angry snapped the 20,000 naira and started posting on social media and calling his Friends and bloggers to post what’s going on. Barrack Pikin also rejected the 50,000 naira given to him, the king’s son has played a fast one on every entertainer, after him Sugar Barbz also got angry with the lady giving out the payments, people were even ready to stone the prince.

There was serious heat arguments going on up to the extend the lady sharing the money called the army in the palace to chase the entertainers away, but when they came they were very sensitive and smart, they asked Mc Global what’s going on and he explained everyone’s grievances to them, they just told everyone to calm down that we are in the Palace and should find a way to rsolve everything without violence.
Mc Senibo pained with what he witnessed had to calm the situation down, he spoke with the entertainers and promised to find a way out for entertainers. He went to some Elders, Leaders and Chief Timipre Sylva’s aides the likes of former chief of staff to the government of Bayelsa state, Chief Sammy Ogbuku, Apc national publicity secretary, Hon Yekine Nabina, and Mr Sam Alabi and explained to them what has happened and suggested they help the situation out.
After a while everyone was called and addressed and immediately one of them volunteered and made a transfer of 1.2 million naira to the entertainers to sort themselves out which brought smile upon their faces.
