Wife of a Former Bayelsa Commissioner of Special Duties and a stalwart of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) worldwide Comrade Robert Igali, and two others kidnapped last week along Elele Community in Rivers State while on a visit to Yenagoa bound accident victims in the hospital have regained freedom after alleged payment of N5million.

NAIJA LIVE TV gathered that the release of the abducted four was not without drama and difficulties despite the reported payment of ransom.

It was gathered that the ransom, which was delivered by the Former Commissioner, Kesiye Frank-Oputu, was accepted by the kidnappers. But the kidnappers went ahead to dispossess him of extra cash estimated at N300, 000 found in his vehicle and other valuables such as mobile phones and others.

It was gathered that the duo of the APC Flag Bearer, Chief David Lyon and the member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Preye Oseke raised the demanded ransom fund.

It would be recalled that the abducted four were kidnapped during their visit to the Madona University Teaching Hospital where they had gone to visit accident victims that were involved in motor accident while returning from the marriage ceremony which they attended in Mbise Council Area of Imo State. The bus they boarded got involved in an accident.

It was further learnt that Igali and three of his friend, on hearing the news and rushed to the scene of the accident from Yenagoa, were kidnapped by unknown gunmen at Madonna University Teaching Hospital in Elele Community where the accident victims were receiving treatment.

According eyewitness account, one Mr. Prince Ekete who was also involved in the accident died on the spot.

NAIJA LIVE TV gathered that the kidnappers, who picked some of the mobile phones of the accident victims, lured the team of sympathizers to a bush within the Madonna Teaching Hospital with a phone call that the mobile phones of the victims were with them.

‘Upon getting to the spot, the gunmen came out with A.K.47 riffles and abducted them. They threatened to kill them.’ a close source told leadership.The incident, according to the source occurred on Sunday morning.

The kidnappers, according to sources, have contacted the family of Igali, and are said to be demanding N5 million as ransom of their son and others.
