…Accused Wabote of outright disregard for youths empowerment

The Bayelsa State Chapter of the the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youth Council, has threatened to shut down the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) Tower, alleging that the Executive Secretary of the board, Simbi Wabote, has displayed outright disregard for youths empowerment in a manner that violates the Nigerian Content Act.

The APC youths in a meeting held at the party’s secretariate in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State Capital, also resolved to stage a massive protest against Wabote in a bid to stamp out traces and faces of retrogression, marginalization, heist, internal colonization and fascist tendencies in the Niger Delta region, saying that they have exercised restrain for his attitude against youths of the APC in the oil rich region for too long.

In a communique jointly signed by the convener of the meeting, Comr. Robert Igali, and Local Government Cordinators, the group also appealed to leaders of the party at the National Secretariat, specifically the National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni, to intervene and broker peace amongst these notable leaders of the party, the Honourable Minister of State Petroleum Resources, His Excellency, Chief Timipre Sylva, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri and Chief David Lyon, to smoothen rough edges and ensure the unity and stability of the party in Bayelsa State.

The youth body in the same vein urged leaders and critical stakeholders of the party, including those that have taken the State Chapter of the party to court to sink their differences and consider political solutions that will ensure a win – win situation in the overall interest of the party in the State.

Parts of the communique read “the meeting called on the leaders of the party at the National Secretariat, specifically the National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni to intervene and broker peace amongst these notable leaders of the party, the Honourable Minister of State Petroleum Resources, His Excellency, Chief Timipre Sylva, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri and Chief David Lyon, to smoothen rough edges and ensure the unity and stability of the party in Bayelsa State.

“The meeting urged leaders and critical stakeholders of the party, including those that have taking the State Chapter of the party to court to sink their differences and consider political solutions that will ensure a win – win situation in the overall interest of the party in the State.

“The meeting also urged the party social media warriors and practitioners not to take sides but raise issues that will promote peace and encourage robust and frank discussions amongst the leaders of the party in the State to hasten the healing process of the party.

“The meeting also note with dismay the ugly attitude of the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board ( NCDMB), Engr. Simbi Wabote and the contempt to which he treats issues of youth empowerment in the State, especially the teeming youths of the party where his office is domiciled in flagrant violation of the Nigerian Content Act.

“The youths of the party and the State have exercised restrain for too long, very soon the youths will shut down the Nigerian Content Tower in Yenagoa to demonstrate the resolve of the youths to stamp out traces and faces of retrogression, marginalization, heist, internal colonization and fascist tendencies in the Niger Delta region.

“Also on youth empowerment, the meeting resolved to set up a ten (10) man planning committee capturing the diverse interest of the party for the Bayelsa APC Youth Summit. The essence is for the leader of the party in the State, His Excellency, Chief Timipre Sylva and other major stakeholders to meet, interact and interface with the youths and other party stalwarts to make the party stronger, bigger and better and position the party to take over the reins of government in the State.

“In the same vein, the meeting strongly appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR and other leaders of the party to appointment a committed party man from Bayelsa State as MD of NDDC, to cater for the well-being, interest and welfare of party men, women and especially the youths of the party who have consistently shown an unwavering support for President Buhari without any tangible benefit from the party.

“Finally, the youths are the bulwark and constitutes about seventy (70) percent of the numeric strength of the party and the youths have paid a huge price for the electoral and political successes the party has recorded in the State. The dominant posture of the party in the State is as a result of the youths.

“Very soon the party would be in another round of election cycle and the youths have a major role to play in the one hundred and five wards of the State and the Eight LGA’s, the youths needs to be empowered and primed for the task ahead. This is the time for those holding sensitive positions from the State at the National and other areas to fashion out ways to support and empower the youths. Enough of the internal bickerings and rumblings in the party, the time is now to put our house in order.”
