Madam Ayoko Owoko, the abducted 78 years old Mother of the immediate past member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly representing Southern Ijaw Constituency 1, Hon. Kate Owoko was today found dead and dumped by the riverside in Amassoma area of the State.
Family sources confirmed the incident to NAIJALIVETV.COM that the corpse of the septuagenarian was found on Tuesday night along the Ogbein-South riverside of Southern Ijaw community of Ammassoma.
It was gathered that the late Madam Ayoko Owoko was abducted from her home in Ammasoma on April 17th by armed men numbering Six and negotiation was stalled following the refusal of the Daughter and State Assembly member to pay the demanded ransom.
Hon. Kate Owoko ,who was a member of the recently disolved 5th Assembly, however refused to comment on the development.
A family member, who spoke to NAIJALIVETV.COM on condition of anonimity, confirmed to our correspondent that “Yes,the corpse of our mother was discovered yesterday night. She was abducted on the 17th of April.The incident is unfortunate.”
He however blamed the refusal of the Daughter and former member of the State Assembly for her demise,” the kidnappers demanded some ramsome but she refused to pay.She told the kidnappers that she had no money.”
Some personal staff also corroborated the claims of the family source alleging that the immediate past member of Assembly have also refused to pay them salary since January 2019,” her disposition to issue of money is worrisome.”
The spokesman of the Bayelsa State Police Command, DSP Asimin Butswat confirmed the development and said the police is investigating the incident.
