Bayelsa Conducts First Restoration Scholarship Examination …We Would Take Education To Every Door Step – Obuebite.

The Bayelsa State government has said that it would continue to decipher new and improved ways to ensure that every child in the State gets access to the free and quality education that has been provided by the State government.

The statement was said by the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Jonathan R. Obuebite at St. Jude’s Girls Secondary School, Amarata during the first edition of the Restoration scholarship Examination for JSS 1 students into the Ijaw National Academy, Kaiama.

The commissioner says that in as much as this exercise is the first of its kind, it was born out of the need to erase the footprint of illiteracy that the State had in the past.

“It has gone extinct the saying that Bayelsans are best known for militancy, crime and criminal related offences and other negative vices, because the tables have turned, I make bold to say that when it comes to academics and all forms of education, Bayelsa is taking the lead” he said.

“With the number of pupils who came for the scholarship exam, it shows that we have indeed gained grounds and all the investment in the education sector is been recognized and appreciated, and with what we have seen in this maiden edition, we are ready to take the message of education to the door step of every Bayelsan”.

Obuebite thanked His Excellency, the Governor for championing the exercise, he also thanked members of the State Education Team, directors and staff of the Ministry Of Education who conducted the exam in all the eight (8) Local Government Area of the State.

Others are, the headmasters of the various schools, and the parents /guardians of the pupils. He urged them to continue to support the restoration government in its drive to take education to a greater height.
