Governor Nasir El-Rufai has ordered all political appointees aspiring for seats in the state House of Assembly to resign immediately.
Samuel Aruwan, his Senior Special Assistant on Media, announced the directive in a terse statement sent to Naija Live Tv on Tuesday.
According to a government statement, the resignation of the appointees will enable them comply with the relevant sections of the APC’s constitution.
Meanwhile, Adebayo Shittu, the Minister of Communications, has secured the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari to contest the 2019 governorship election in Oyo State.
With the development, Shittu will exit the cabinet anytime soon to enable him start his election campaign ahead of primaries.
The approval was contained in a letter signed by the president and has put an end to speculations of whether or not the minister would contest the Oyo governorship seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
