A total of one hundred and five persons have been arrested from January till date in connection with drug related issues in Bayelsa state.
The State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Mr. Abdullahi Abdul disclosed this during a press conference in Yenagoa in commemoration of the 2019 international day Against drug Abuse and illicit Trafficking.
The State Commander who express worry over the increasing trend of drug abuse in the State pointed out that out of a total of 105 persons arrested 89 were males while 16 are females.
Mr. Abdul who also gave a breakdown of different types of illicit drugs seized within the last six months noted that a total of 27.35 kilograms worth of drugs were seized.
The commander disclosed that following the commands investigation in recent times their is a close link between drugs, crime and crime and urged all stakeholders to close ranks to combat the trend in Bayelsa state.
