The Dise Ogbise (DO) Foundation in conjunction with the state command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has organized a two kilometer peace walk against drug and substance abuse and illicit trafficking in Bayelsa State.

The program which kick off at the peace park opposite Government House in Yenagoa terminated at the Okaka Primary School Field with Stakeholders reemphasizing on the need for drug abusers to have a change of mind.

The rate of abuse of drugs and other substances remains a major challenges in combatting crime and other social vices in the society.

This walk is primarily staged by the foundation and her partners to raise awareness on the dangers of drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

The 2 kilometres walk also afforded the participants an opportunity to distribute flyers and other information materials to members of the public.

At the end of the peace walk, bayelsa state commissioner for information, Hon. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, represented by, Mr.Chris Odi, NDLEA Bayelsa State Commander, Mr.Abdul , NUJ Bayelsa State Council Chairman, Comr. Samuel Numonengi, NAWOJ Chairperson, Mrs. Maria Olodi- Osuma, among other Stakeholders highlighted efforts made to curb drug abuse and the dangers of substance abuse to the society.

The peace walk was part of DO Foundation effort to commemorate the 2019 international Day Against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
