
The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Bayelsa State November elections, His Excellency (Chief) Timipre Sylva, has been awarded the ‘Most Literary Supportive Public Servant’ in Nigeria.
Chief Timipre Sylva was given the Honour Award by the Abuja Writers Forum (AWF), a top Literary Body in the Federal Capital Territory, F.C.T.
Presenting the Award, the Director of AWF, Mr. Emman Shehu, described Sylva as ‘Noble Promoter of Arts’ who has supported writing residencies and has encouraged many rising talents, especially in the literary sphere.
Mr. Shehu, while hailing the ex-minister’s contributions towards the development of art, thanked H.E Sylva, for attending the Guest Writer Session held in the past. He also commended Chief Sylva for adding value to Nigerian literature.
Responding, the Former Minister of Petroleum (state), while reminiscing on his childhood dream of becoming a writer, appreciated AWF for the recognition and the award given him.
The APC governorship candidate, who has dozens of unpublished collection of poems and has sponsored publication of many books, thanked the group for honouring him with the award.
