
The Bayelsa State Government has banned the collection of all forms of revenues at entry points into the State capital, saying that it is illegal for any contractor or agent to collect revenue on behalf of the Government.
This is contained in a statement by Dr. Daniel Eniekezimene, Executive Chairman Bayelsa State Board of Internal Revenue in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
According to Eniekezimene, all roadblocks mounted at all entry points in to the state capital and along the Highway in Bayelsa State from the Mbiama-Patani axis of the East West road has been dismantled forthwith.
He noted that any revenue contractor or agent who claimed to be collecting revenue on behalf of the State Government is indulging in an illegal activity.
He warned that any person or group of persons who flout the directive will be arrested and prosecuted.
The statement reads:”His Excellency, Governor Douye Diri, has directed that all revenue collection roadblocks mounted at the entry points into the State Capital and along the Highway in Bayelsa State from the Mbiama – Patani axis of the East-West road should be dismantled with immediate effect.
” Consequently,there will be no collection of revenues,levies,rates or any kind of fees/charges at the entry points from Mbiama to Yenagoa or the Glory Land drive to Yenagoa or any other entry point to the State Capital same applies to the Highway between Mbiama and Patani.
” Any revenue contractor or agent who professes to be collecting revenue on behalf of the State Government is untrue and is indulging in an illegal activity.
” Any person or group of persons found flouting this directive will be arrested and prosecuted,”
