The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the November elections in Bayelsa State, H.E Chief Timipre Sylva, has commiserated with the Abiri family over the demise of the immediate past Chief Judge of the State, Justice Kate Abiri.

Chief Sylva, during a visit to the family, on thursday, said he was saddened and shock to hear the news of her demise when she has just finished a meritorious service in the judiciary, retired and was  to enjoy her labour.

The Minister of Petroleum, as quoted by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs, Julius Bokoru, in a statement,  assure the family of his support and prayed God to console the family.

“I am saddened by the event. It came as a rude shock. She had finished a meritorious service in the judiciary. She had just retired and this was the time for youJusticeoy yourselves. But that didn’t happen. God loves us best and we cannot question His decisions.

”I assure you of my steady support, we can’t console you enough for what has happened but i know God will  guide and see you all through in this bleak hour.

”She served this state well and we will do anything to support you. We wish her perfect peace and rest,” he said.

Late Justice Kate Abiri, retired from her role as Chief Judge of Bayelsa State on January 13, 2023. Abiri hails from Aleibiri community in Ekeremor Local Government Area.

She holds the record as the longest serving Chief Judge in Bayelsa State, occupying the position from 2008 to 2023.
