When a man believes in standing on the path of truth, equity and justice, it becomes uncommon qualities which propel him to wade through the rough paths of the journey on earth.

These qualities are acquired while the Grace of God and his benevolence can be endowed at birth when proper divine connection is made to prepare the arrival of such babies and there after a name that can send the right signals is given to the baby.

“MOSES” literarily meaning “taken out or drawn forth” is a perfect blend of understanding the mission statement of the fledging bones and flesh at birth.

Greatness for some is innate while for others, it is a quality learnt under years of stewardship to greater minds that saw impact on society as a way of life.

A Rwandan author, Bangambiki Habyarimana in his book, ‘Book of Wisdom’, states that “Humility is not an innate trait, but it can be learnt, some other great thinkers believe it is both”.

For the man called Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, it is a combination of both.

Born to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Sunday Cleopas of Koluama in present day Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, on the 19th of November, 1972, young Cleopas had his primary and secondary schools in Koluama before venturing out to further his education at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port-Harcourt, where he bagged a B.Sc in Secretarial Administration and M.Sc degree in Management from the Niger Delta University, Amassoma.

Senator Cleopas Moses Zwoghe, representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District at the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was inaugurated on the 15th day of December, 2020, after his victory at the Bye-election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Saturday 5th of December, 2020.

His election is as a result of the emergence of Senator Douye Diri’s elevation to the exalted seat of Governor, Bayelsa State.

Life is full of challenges and only the brave comes out of it unscathed.

Senator Cleopas was likened to the biblical David who defended the people of Israel in the face of daunting challenges, especially when intimidated by the giant from Philistine, Goliath who boasted to defy the God and people of Israel in the field of battle.

He led the party to several electoral battles and the results abound, further endearing him to millions of party faithful within and outside the State.

Fondly called ‘Mole’ by his football family, friends and close associates, the Senator displays a mien of humility remains one of his greatest selling points.

Ghanaian writer, Ernest Yeboah says ‘He who knows how to serve from a true heart and spirit knows what it takes to be truly great’. This is the testament of many about the Koluama born politician with a difference.

Some of the challenges Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe faced includes:

Eight (8) litigations (1) a pre-election matter at the Federal High Court, Yenagoa, and the other seven (7) post-election matters filed at the Bayelsa State National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, Yenagoa, which one of the political parties, All Progressives Congress (APC) went all the way to the court of Appeal, Port Harcourt.

Where others see leadership as taking authority and contending with leaders and government, Senator Cleopas see leadership from the perspective of broadening his horizon and collaborative base, working hard, bridging communication gaps, open minded, ready to learn and listening to government and stakeholders to attain best results.

And true to type he won all litigations against him.

His entry to the Senate was late, therefore, could not meet the budgetary process, hence did not make meaningful impact to influence project and programmes to his Senatorial District, however, he has carried out a lot of projects in his Senatorial District.

In the words of Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, “serving the people has opened his eyes to see that all hands must be on deck to work and achieve set goals for the benefit of all Bayelsans. No wonder this astute Senator has been able to achieve a lot just one year in office.
