A young man identified as Owate Bode has allegedly killed his mother in Aleto community of Eleme area of Rivers State on Saturday for refusing to give him N10,000.
According to sources, the suspect asked his mother who is a Primary School teacher to withdraw N20,000 for him but she gave him N10,000 after withdrawals.
The source alleged that when the mother refused to give him the remaining, he used a nearby hoe and slammed it on his mother’s head, ripping her head open as she was walking out on him, leaving her dead in a pool of blood.
This made the community youths to intervene and handed him over to the Police. The body of the deceased has since been deposited in the Mortuary.
Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect confessed to the crime that he used a hoe to cut the mother on the head.
SP Koko added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Effiong Okon has ordered the transfer of the suspect from Eleme Police Division to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for discreet and thorough investigation.
