United States President Donald Trump has announced that talks with Iran will take place today as efforts continue to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resolve the impasse over Tehran’s nuclear program
President Trump declined to set a deadline for reaching an agreement after earlier saying he had called off an imminent military attack to allow room for diplomacy.
In a statement, the president said Iran and other Middle Eastern countries had requested more time to finalize a deal that would lead to the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and end what he described as Iran’s nuclear threat. He urged Tehran to reach an agreement quickly.
