Authorities of the Nigerian Content Development Management Board (NCDMB) in partnership with the Bayelsa State Government have commenced the training of 250 teachers from various secondary schools on capacity development.

The training, which is organised to train 75 teachers in Mathematics, 75 in English, 50 in Basic Sciences and 50 in Basic Technology, is expected to last for six weeks and held at the University of Africa and Teachers Training Registration and Certification Board (TTRCB).

Speaking at the event, the State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Jonathan. Obuebite commended the State Governor,Hon. Seriake Dickson for backing the Ministry to achieve this feat, saying that it is yet another proof that the Restoration Government is leaving no stone unturned in the education sector.

Obuebite said that this training is centered on the critical aspect of learning which is the teachers, according to him, a good teacher can only produce good students and vice versa.

The Commissioner for education, said that with this partnership with the Nigerian Content Development Management Board (NCDMB) to train these number of teachers, it would change the narrative as it were.

He thanked the board for choosing Bayelsa State, he also thanked the Teachers Training Registration and Certification Board (TTRCB), the University of Africa for playing host to the programme, and he congratulated the select teachers who would be going through the process and also advised them to take the training seriously and be in their best behaviour.

Responding , the consultant of the NCDMB, MS. Tonye Imaselcha thanked the Bayelsa State Government, the Ministry of Education , the TTRCB and the management and staff of the University for their rare kind of support which according to her is worthy of commendation.

Tonye said that she is hopeful that at the end of the training ,both parties would be elated. She also commended the Governor for his benevolence in the sector.

The event had in attendance the chairperson TTRCB – Dr. (Mrs.) Stella Ugolo, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Africa – Prof. Valentine Aletor, the management and staff of the University of Africa.
