Hon. Preye Oseke has conveyed the felicitations of the entire Bayelsa Caucus of the National Assembly to the eight Bayelsans (2 females inclusive) that were on Saturday 25th July 2020, commissioned as Lieutenants following their successful completion of the Nigeria Army Direct Short Service Commission Course 25.
Speaking in his National Assembly office today, Thursday 30 July 2020, the member representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency urged the new officers to deploy the wealth of knowledge they acquired during the course in contributing their quota to solving the menace of insecurity currently plaguing the Nigeria state.
While challenging the young officers to do Bayelsa proud, he stressed that the interest of Bayelsans supersedes political affiliation. Taking turns to recount the support they received from the federal lawmaker beginning from the preliminary stages of selection through the finals, the officers expressed deep gratitude for the lawmaker’s benevolence, not just to them alone, but to many others back home in the federal constituency.
High point of the unscheduled visit was the presentation of a plaque by the officers to the federal lawmaker, in symbolism of their gratitude.
Without a doubt, Oseke is guided by his avowed drive to birth permanent secretaries in the federal civil service as well as generals in the Nigerian military, thus proving right the Greek proverb that “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”
We wish them a meritorious service to our fatherland:
