Owing to the prevailing circumstances of insecurity, ethnic and religious crisis rocking many parts of the Country which has relatively driven corporate bodies from investment into our wealth.

This which has slowed the pace of our development into a Capitalist Nation as other developing Countries are evolving. We are left with the sole dependence on the Centre (Federal Government). As there’s no legit guarantee for States to harness and manage her resources and fend for herself without the interference of the Federal Government.

Bayelsa State in it’s own is not left with it’s bad side of the coin, as it was known for militancy, kidnapping, pipeline vandalism, sea piracy, and other social vices.

But the narrative changed with the advent of the Amnesty Programme initiated by Late President Umar Musa Yar’adua and the formation of various state security outfits such as Bayelsa State Volunteer, Bayelsa State Vigilante, et cetera that has brought the conglomerate peace we’re experiencing. We are well abreast of the fact that our ugly past is still hunting us.

“We the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Central Zone unilaterally declare Bayelsa State a safe haven for investment and we therefore call on well meaning individuals, Corporate & Social bodies, Multinationals to come and invest in Bayelsa State as we have recognized the fact that we as youths have a greater role to play in the development of our dear state ‘the Jerusalem of Ijaw Nation’.

“We use this same medium to thank our proactive Federal lawmakers on their recent move towards the relocation the various IOCs headquarters to the Niger Delta. This which has been our yarning for a very long time will engender speedy development in the Niger Delta”.

“We are also aware of a broadcast by Miyetti Allah warning the South South Governors that have signed the Anti Grazing Law, and we wish to inform Miyetti Allah or any other body that is against the Anti Grazing Law that the IYC is solidly behind the South Governors and we will defend our territory jealously, and we urge them to stay clear from Bayelsa State.”

“As regards to the recent ‘sit at home’ move by the IPOB group, we wish to note that Bayelsa State is not a Biafran State and as such we will resist any attempted business lockdown for this move.”

“We will not hesitate to permanently shutdown any business enterprise, Companies operating in Bayelsa State that from henceforth obeys any of such moves”.

“To our Youths, we are using this medium to appeal to the conscience of Bayelsa youths and youth organizations to always use the consultative and dialogue mechanism when dealing with situations, and desist from public protest in the State. Moreso, write to the Leadership of IYC which is the apex youth body in the state to resolve any issue.”

Furthermore, we wish to inform the general public that the leadership of Council will be embarking on a Security Tour around the 43 Clans in Central Zone, to strengthen our readiness in welcoming Multinationals, local and foreign investors into our dear State.

Finally, we call on Bayelsa youths to be law abiding, peaceful, shun violence, and together we can make Bayelsa State (The Jerusalem of the Ijaw Nation) a great place to be.
