A renowned Bayelsa-born Skirt-maker, Mr. PrayGod Odumgele, popularly called MC Laffsyrup, has registered his displeasure in the outcome of the recent Bayelsa Media Awards (BMA).

The popular skirt-maker, while expressing his dissatisfaction in the selection process, told the organizers of the Bayelsa Media Awards and its Project Manager, Mr. Victor Binawari, not to nominate him again hence in their “fraudulent award” called BMA.

He said “Dear Victor Binawari, thank you for nominating my name in your award over the years now, I appreciate but please anything Bayelsa Media Award Nomination don’t ever nominate my brand ‘Laffsyrup’ again in your fraudulent award, please.”

The skitmaker with the brand, UNIT HEAD, also asked the BMA media unit to explain the rationale behind an ‘edit button’ in a voting category, adding that he is ready to meet them in Court.

“Till Now they couldn’t explain the meaning of the EDIT button on a voting category, which means if they don’t like you, your votes will be edited.

“In a few months from now, I will present you with the true meaning of an Award by merit

“I have equally read your publication, and I have instructed my legal team too to wait for your court papers let’s meet in court,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Bayelsa Media Award, in a response, said Mr. Laffsyrup should provide tangible evidence to substantiate his claim of fraudulent process.

In a statement signed by Thelma Ibegu, the BMA Administration said their brand is known for professionalism over the years and have constantly appreciated creativity in the media sphere in Bayelsa and the Niger Delta without fear or favour.

“Our attention has been drawn to a malicious publication made by a Bayelsa based comedian, Laffsyrup PrayGod Odumgele, one of the nominees for Best Content Creator category, tagging our brand name and that of our Project Manager, Mr. Victor Binawari to be fraudulent.

“As a brand that has celebrated professionalism consistently and our mandate of acknowledging and appreciating creatives in the media sphere here in Bayelsa and Niger Delta for a Decade now without fear, favour or prejudice, we frown at such post and call on the said publisher to provide reasons beyond reasonable doubts to substantiate his claim(s).

“We also demand that he retracts such publication and tender an unreserved apology to the Bayelsa Media Awards and Project Manager within twenty four (24)hours of this publication or face legal action,” the statement read.
