Two boys were yesterday beheaded by suspected cultists along the Fangbe community of Yenagoa Local Government area of Bayelsa following the battle of supremacy between rival cult groups of Greenlanders and Debam known as Bobos.
Also killed in the rival battle were three others in different locations of Obele, St. Peters Church and Swali of the State capital.
It was gathered that though what provoked the bloody battle remained sketchy, the fiece battle was alleged to have started with the killing of a senior ranking officer of the Bobos by their rival group.
While a Greenlander member was machete to death in front of his church along Swali road, others were killed inside the notorious Obele area during the direct confrontation between the cult groups.
Some residents of the area claimed that the battle was between the Obele boys and the St. Peters boys. Already residents are moving out of the troubled zone with the boys reportedly moving about with dangerous weapons.
Another source confirmed that the killing of a leader of the Greenlanders was responsible for the renewed rival war.
An indigene of the Famgbe community, who pleaded anonymity, denied that the beheading of the youths by cultists occurred in Famgbe,” the incident occurred in Obele but not famgbe community.”
Contacted on the development, the spokesman of the Bayelsa Police Command, DSP Asinim Butswat, confirmed the development and said “ we have responded by conducting repeated raids on black spots in the area and strategising on how to apprehend the ring leaders.”
He however decline comment on the number of casualty and the beheaded ones,”we have not even discovered dead bodies.”
