The apex body of all Southern-Ijaw youths, the SILGA federal youths Council has applauded the APC candidate for Southern-Ijaw federal constituency, Hon. Preye Oseke, for the approval of bursary for 600 Southern-Ijaw students, both in the secondary and tertiary.
Speaking to newsmen, was the President of the group, Snr comrade Sogo Oyeins, he said, the actions of Oseke were commendable and worthy of emulation by other candidates.
He added that Oseke has clearly demonstrated that he understood the pivotal role education played in defining the socio-political development of this present time and the growth and advancement of the local government area.
He further appreciated Oseke for sustaining the scholarship and bursary scheme he began last year, in spite of the economic situation of the country.
” Oseke has shown committment to ensuring that Southern-Ijaw people are empowered through education to contribute productively to local and state economies.
“The award of bursary for 600 Southern-Ijaw students demonstrates the priority oseke accords to educating our people
” Last year was 316, in process i witnessed, this year is 600, this is a man without any political appointment, then it is certain that if he has one, the numbers will by next year double, this action calls for emulation by other candidates especially those in government”, he said.
He concluded that the bursary provided would equipped the youths with the necessary skills, attitudes and aptitude to confront future educational challenges and function effectively in an ever dynamic global community.
