Report reaching NAIJA LIVE TV confirm that a former coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Professor Charles Dokubo is dead.

Multiple sources said Dokubo died at 70 in an undisclosed hospital in Abuja on Wednesday night.

Confirming the latest developments to NAIJA LIVE TV, a stakeholder in the Niger Delta region who did not want his name publish noted that his corpse has been deposited at the mortuary.

“I just got a confirmation now from his cousin. It’s true. His corpse was just deposited at the mortuary. May his departed soul Rest in the bossom of the Lord. There is nothing in this life we dey kill ourselves. All the wealth and professorship gone. All the petitions and charges against him gone. We are all from dust and will go back to dust. As we live…we should NOTE that what will carry us and our names on is the good legacy and kindness to humanity we leave behind.”

The former Niger Delta amnesty boss was born in Abonnema, Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State on the 23rd of March 1952.

Dokubo had his primary and Secondary School education in Abonnema.

He did his ‘A’ levels at Huddersfield Technical College in West Yorkshire. From 1978-1980, Dokubo was admitted to the University of Teesside at Middlesbrough, where he undertook a course in modern History and politics and was awarded a BA [Hons] at the University of Bradford.

He completed his Masters Degree in Peace Studies, before continuing his doctoral degree in Nuclear Weapon Proliferation and its control.

In 1985, he was awarded his doctoral degree in the same University of Bradford.

He was later appointed a temporary lecturer in the department before proceeding to Nigeria in 1993.

NAIJA LIVE TV reported that following numerous allegations and petitions surrounding the Presidential Amnesty Programme, President Buhari Sacked Dokubo and ordered the National Security Adviser (NSA) to set up a Caretaker Committee to look into the activities of the programme

Part of the Committee’s task is to ensure that allocated resources are properly utilized in consonance with the government’s objective of alleviating problems in the Niger Delta region and stamping out corruption in the Amnesty Programme.
