A group, the Ekeremor Youths Critical Stakeholders Wednesday threw its weight behind the zoning of the National Assembly seats in Bayelsa West Senatorial District.

In a communique signed by its coordinators, Hon. Dimaro Enaikpotare and Edesemi Olorungu, the group stated that it is behind the resolutions reached by the Ekeremor Elders Stakeholders Forum to respect the unwritten zoning agreement in Bayelsa West Senatorial District.

While calling on political actors in the Senatorial District to honour the zoning agreement, the group cautioned politicians seeking to contest for any of the National Assembly seats to honour the agreement.

The youths equally berated the Ekeremor Local Government Chairman for “taunting” with the conventional zoning agreement between both Ekeremor and Sagbama Local Government Areas, which is naturally beneficial and upholds equity.

The communique reads in part:

“Ekeremor Local Government Youths frown at the conduct of Ekeremor Local Government Chairman, Chief Perekeme Bertola PhD for taunting the conventional agreement between both Ekeremor and Sagbama Local Government Areas, which is naturally beneficial and upholds equity.

“However, the meeting berated Chief Perekeme Bertola (Phd) to focus on discharging his duties as Chairman and concentrate more on the development of the LGA, as the LGA is in dire need of visionary projects and policies.

“Meeting lauded the outcome of the Ekeremor Elders stakeholders meeting held on the 22nd July 2021 at Yenagoa, where they resolved to respect the zoning agreement and called on politicians from Bayelsa West to honor and consolidate on the zoning agreement.

“Ekelga youth leader vowed to resist any political leaders from Bayelsa West who dares to breach the already existing zoning agreement between the two LGAs.

“Finally, Youth leaders from Ekeremor LGA commended the Governor of Bayelsa State H.E Sen. Douye Diri’s commitment to the development of Bayelsa State in continuing the Sagbama/Ekeremor road.”
