Elders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has expressed their reservation over the position of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the zoning of Senatorial seat in the west Senatorial district of the State.

The APC Elders, who met in Yenagoa at the weekend, pointed out that the long-standing tacit consensus of rotational representation of the National Assembly seats in the aforementioned district from the inception of this dispensation and as part of measures to assuage the ill-feeling of deep-seated injustice among the good people of Ekeremor LGA, giving the level of deep sense of deprivation and neglect, should be sustained.

The APC Elders at the meeting include Senator J. K. Brambaifa, the Former Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi, Chief Alex Ekioteine, Captain Matthew Karimo, Barr Gad Ombeh, High Chief Maj. Andrew Oputa Rtd, Chief Ebikiri Akpokpo, Hon. Benjamin Youdiowei and Sen. Deinyanbofa Dimaro.

Also at the meeting are Hon. Micah Godbless,Hon. Stephen Ogula, Hon. R.J. EtolEtolor and Hon. Wilson Ayakpo Dauyigh.

The APC Elders ,in a communique jointly signed by those in attendance and made available to NAIJA LIVE TV, observed with utmost curiosity that from the inception of the ongoing democratic experiment, there has been a common understanding among the people of the said district to adopt rotational representation as the basis for the choice of National Assembly members.

According to the elders, “the APC elders averred that in view of this long standing consensus within the period under review, SAGBAMA LGA has occupied the exalted Senate seat for sixteen years while Ekeremor LGA has only occupied it for eight years and the elders therefore, maintain that it is the turn of Ekeremor LGA to produce the next Senator to represent the good people of the district in order for them to complete their tenure.”

“the APC elders accordingly condemn in strong terms any attempt by a SAGBAMA person to contest the office of the Senate in the forthcoming elections, as it is viewed as a flagrant abuse of the hitherto existing order and a clear demonstration of malevolent and divisive tendencies and that this communique has become necessary in order to support the earlier position of the PDP to abide by the underlying principles of zoning as being propagated and re-echoed in a similar communique issued in 2019.”

“That the group calls on the good people of Ekeremor LGA to massively vote for any Senatorial candidate from the area irrespective of party affiliations as it is the only acceptable means to avert the potential danger of further subjecting the people to a more agonizing experience as it is deemed to have been repugnant and antithetical to natural justice, fairness and good conscience.
May the Almighty Father continue to bless us all.”
