The visiting Model School students, described the Airport project as a landmark achievement of the Restoration government, adding that when finally completed it will ease the transportation system and boost the

Internally Generated Revenue and create employment opportunities for the teeming youths in the State.

According to them, the visit has afforded us the opportunity to visit the project site of one of the laudable achievements of the present

administration. We are just hearing about his numerous achievements but with this visit, we now have a firsthand information.

“Our tour guard took us round the runway which according to her is the longest in the Country, Fire Bay, Terminal Building, control tower, the hangar to mention but few. With this visit, we should be able to write comprehensive report on the Cargo/Passengers International Airport”.

In his address, the state Commissioner of Education, Hon. Obuebite

said the excursion was aimed at intimating the pupils with the developmental strides of the present administration, and, as well as

widening their scope of understanding.

The visit, according to him is part of the activities lined up for the summer class that started two weeks ago at the ijaw National Academy, Kaiama in Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area of the state.

He said the visiting pupils now have depth knowledge about the activities of the government, adding that by the time they resume classes, they will be able to say more about the projects and other completed and ongoing projects across the state.

Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite has again assured Governor Seriake Dickson of his unflinching commitment in carrying out his duties as the Commissioner in-charge of the Ministry, saying that with the continuous support from the Governor, there would be no limit to the level of creative and mind-blowing innovations that the Ministry and the State Education Team would bring to the fore.

The commissioner made this known in a commendation spree dedicated to the Governor on the achievements so far recorded in the education sector in the past six years that has brought the State to the limelight among the comity of States and beyond.

This is coming on the heels of the just concluded 2018 National Council of Education (NCE) Summit where Bayelsa State was chosen to host the 2019 National Council of Education (NCE) Summit based the level of investment in education and her performance educationally especially in external exams like WAEC and NECO where they have maintained an enviable grade back to back in recent years compared to the past.

“It is indeed a thing of joy and pride for me that Bayelsa State education sector has been receiving awards and accolades back to back, which is a clear indication that with a little extra spice, we would transit to receiving much more awards globally as well as competing with students globally in Arts, Science and Technology”.

“I was filled with joy when I found out that Bayelsa State emerged 7th position in WAEC and in the National Business Certificate Examination (NBCE) and National Technical Examination (NTE) we also emerged as the first three state that came tops without any record of malpractices or illicit behaviors as it were, this calls for more commendation from us as a State to the Governor, he has really done more than well” he said.

Obuebite thanked the NCE for adopting and recommending the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) as a model for all other States to emulate in funding of education which influenced the theme for the 2019 NCE Summit which is “Self-Reliance As a Tool For Achieving Education For All by 2030”.

The 2018 NCE Summit was chaired by the Minister of Education – Mallam Adamu Adamu, and had in attendance the Minister of State for Education – Anthony Onwuka, Education Commissioners from all 36 States of the country, UNESCO, UNICEF, World bank and other NGO’S.
