A Former Majority Leader of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Stephen Ereboh has indicated the interest to succeed Hon. Seriake Dickson as Governor of the State come 2020.

The interest, according to Stephen Ereboh, was borne out of the need to improve upon the achievements of previous administration and improve on issues of infrastructure, agriculture and improve the purchasing power of the people of the State.

Hon. Stephen Ereboh,who served the State House of Assembly in 2003 as the member representing Southern. Ijaw Constituency 1 , said his interest in the Bayelsa Governorship race on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is not targeted to bring down the achievements of the past administration’s but to improve and add value to the past.

According to Ereboh, “I am not new to governance. I believe in quality governance and continuity. Any successive government need to improve and develop what others have achieved. It is called renewable development There is the need to improve on the quality of education, agriculture and other infrastructure provided by the present administration. And even add new ones. ”

“These are decisions that will improve upon existing achievement and not bring it down. Look at Bayelsa, we have lands for agro-business. It can be brought here. Look at Ogunboss. He has a striving rice farm in Peremabiri and has become a huge entrepreneur. Bayelsa should not only be known for oil but should also be known for improved Afro businesses. ”

“What is needed is to develop more infrastructures, amenities with security. Oil and security go hand in hand. Before you know it, lots of auxiliary companies will come up.”

On the issue of zoning within the PDP and the rising declaration of interest by politicians in the State Governorship race, Hon. Ereboh insisted that there were never issue of zoning within the party in the state, “contestants are free to declare interest. Zoning has never being used in the Governorship interest.”

Erebor also described the recent cases of defection from the APC to the PDP as a “normal occurence”,”the party that is benefiting now are happy, while those loosing members are not. “
