….Mention Justice Mary Odili is a desecration of the hallowed institution of the judiciary

The Chief of State to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Benson Agadaga has distanced himself from the Supposedly Attempted Bribery Scandal, Leaked audio flying on the cyberspace.
The Chief of State in a statement obtain by NAIJA LIVE TV said He has no hand on the said leaked audio. Says he hasn’t spoken to the LIbration Movement’s Guber candidate Mr. Opuama on telephone. Insisted that those who knew him understand very well that the voice in the audio doesn’t belongs to him.

My attention has been drawn to a failed WhatsApp audio to the effect that I had a telephone conversation with one Vijah Opuama requesting that he comes to Yenagoa, offering gratifications, to hold talks that would make him withdraw his Tribunal matter against the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State.

Ordinary, we prefer to ignore such childish antics.

However, because of the magnitude of the allegations therein, and after a thorough evaluation of the issues raised, I’ve decided to set the records straight as follows:

  1. I have NEVER had a telephone conversation with Mr. Opuama.
  2. Those who know me understand very well that the voice in that failed audio is not mine.
  3. The mention of the reverred Justice Mary Odili in this malicious audio is, simply put, a desecration of the hallowed institution of the judiciary.
  4. Bayelsa State Government, respecting the sanctity of the judiciary will NEVER attempt at interfering with its work.
  5. As a politician and seasoned administrator, I will never engage in any action that brings disrepute to the institution I faithfully serve.

Flowing from the aforestated, I wish to say that:

  1. The Governorship election in Bayelsa has been won and lost.
  2. Politics is only a game. Losers must learn to take the outcome in good faith.
  3. What’s paramount on the Prosperity agenda is to bring development to Bayelsans by fulfilling our election promises.
  4. These distractions are not in the best interest of our beloved Bayelsans.
  5. Because these distractions are becoming worrisome, we would have no choice but to halt them by every lawful means.

Our reassurance to Bayelsans is that We Will NEVER allow the likes of Mr. Opuama and his sponsors distract us from our focus to deliver the dividends of democracy to them.

NAIJA LIVE TV earlier reported that the brewing political tussle between Eldred Opuama of Liberation Movement political party and the People’s Democratic Party in Bayelsa state has taken a new turn, following Eldred Opuama’s resilience not to back out of the Bayelsa governorship tribunal case.

In a phone conversation intercepted by the news team of NAIJA LIVE TV, a man who self-acclaimed himself to be the Bayelsa state Chief of Staff, Benson Agadaga, was heard, cunningly beseeching Eldred Opuama of Liberation Movement, that he may meet him to iron out the tribunal case and presumably get it swept under the carpet.

In the phone conversation of three minutes and twenty-six seconds, the alleged chief of staff was further heard cajoling Opuama that he and his colleague has prepared a juicy offer for him, if only he will let go of the case.

Interestingly too, the self-acclaimed Agadaga noted in the conversation that Justice Mary Odili, a judge of the Supreme Court, is with them and will play along if Opuama refuses to back out.

The conversation goes:

Alleged Benson Agadaga: Hello, it’s me Benson Agadaga calling.

Opuama: Good day Sir.

Alleged Benson Agadaga: I said let me call you to see how we can iron out things as Ijaw people. You know that all of us are one, all of us are from the same Bayelsa, and we are not supposed to fight each other. That is why I said I should bring down myself on behalf of my people, to resolve everything.

I know that you are in Abuja, you have told me before. I want us to rub minds together. We are mature people. I want you to find a way to Yenagoa for us to see. I am not coming to fight you; I want us to discuss things, when you come Yenagoa. I will speak to my people, we will arrange a package. I have even kept something for you already. Are you hearing me? Abeg, you hear. When are you coming to Yenagoa?

Opuama: I don’t know when I’m coming to Yenagoa. Let me check myself first.

Alleged Benson Agadaga: Okay, another reason why I am telling you is that Justice Mary Odili worked for us. No need for us to bring her in. No need for those things, all of us are one. So no need, no need. Hmmmm, you dey hear me?

Opuama: I am hearing you.

Alleged Benson Agadaga: Okay, no problem.

As the pressure mounts on Opuama to back out of the race and the tribunal’s indecisiveness on the matter, NAIJA LIVE TV promises to keep you apprised as the matter unfold
