The Bayelsa State Government has declared a net receipt of N11.7 billion allocation from the Federation Account for the month of August, 2018.

The State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Maxwell Ebibai, said in a statement on Tuesday that the delay in the FAAC meeting which lingered till last weekend resulted in a delay in the payment of salaries for the month of August.

He said that the State Governor, the Honourable, Henry Seriake Dickson, had directed the Finance Committee to commence immediate payment of salaries which was being complied with.

Ebibai stressed that the the Finance Team had already commenced payment of the August salaries to the workers in accordance with the policy of the Restoration Administration to give priority to the payment of workers’ salaries.

He explained that the slight delay in the payment of salaries was not deliberate as it was caused by the delay in the FAAC meeting.

He stated further that the government decided to inform the citizenry of the receipts from the Federation Account for the month of August in compliance with the policy of transparency of the Dickson Administration.

He said, “The Bayelsa State Government got a net receipt of N11.7 billion from the Federation Account for the month of August.

“The delay in the FAAC meeting which lingered till the end of last week resulted in delayed payment of salaries for the month of August.

“However, His Excellency directed immediate payment of salaries as soon as the money was received and that directive is being complied with.

“The decision to declare the August receipt from from the Federation Account is in line with the policy of transparency of the Restoration Government.”
