Bayelsa-based public affairs analyst, Dr. Perekeme Fidelis Perekeme Jr., has tendered a public apology to Dr. Eruani Azibapu, CEO of Azikel Group of Companies, over a disputed publication shared on his Facebook page.
In a letter addressed to Dr. Azibapu, Dr. Perekeme said the apology followed a legal correspondence from Aliyu Lemu, SAN & Co., solicitors to the Azikel boss, demanding cessation, removal, retraction, and an apology.
The disputed post, shared on July 26, 2026, was titled: _”Alleged Aviation Scholarship Scam: Second Successful Candidate Sues Dr. Eruani Azibapu and Azikel Group for ₦1.9 Billion.”_
Dr. Perekeme clarified that he was not the author of the publication. He stated that the content was written by Mr. Ebilate Amabebe, who identified himself as one of the aggrieved parties. According to him, the post was shared to draw attention to issues already in the public domain and to encourage clarification.
He noted that before sharing it, he had published a separate article titled _”A Call for Clarity, Fairness and Justice”_, in which he appealed to Dr. Azibapu to address allegations raised by concerned youths. He added that the CEO’s Special Assistant and spokesperson, Mr. Austin Ebibade, had responded to those concerns.
Dr. Perekeme said he never intended to defame Dr. Azibapu or label him a scammer, and that his goal was to promote dialogue, fairness, and an amicable resolution.
Acknowledging that the matter is before a court of competent jurisdiction, he said:
_”In the spirit of peaceful coexistence, I hereby tender my sincere and unreserved apology to you, Dr. Eruani Azibapu, for sharing the publication in question. It was never my intention to cause harm to your reputation or to prejudice any ongoing legal proceedings.”_
He described himself as a law-abiding citizen of Bayelsa State who respects the rule of law and the contributions of Dr. Azibapu to the state.
