The management of Baraza Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited on Saturday 6th April 2024 held a General Virtual Meeting to discuss with members and chart the way forward of the cooperative society.

NAIJA LIVE TV gathered that the meeting  took place online was also conducted via Zoom and YouTube platforms and saw active participation from members across various branches.

Arc. Dr. Oyinmiebi Bribena, Executive Chairman of the Cooperative who presided over the meeting outlined the agenda which included crucial discussions on the organization’s progress, challenges, and the way forward.

In a statement sent to newsmen on Tuesday, Bribena expressed gratitude to members for their patience and participation and emphasized the need for adherence to meeting rules.

The Executive Chairman while announcing the presence of Barr. B. A. Joshua, the cooperative’s lawyer provided insights into recent developments, including legal challenges and threats to personal security, sealing of assets and bank accounts, etc.

He highlighted efforts to address fraud and losses, outlining ongoing recovery strategies.

According to him, despite facing adversities such as property seizures and legal hurdles, he has maintained his commitment to the society’s welfare and urged members to support the recovery process.

He sympathised with members that were defrauded by some people who requested contributions from them while giving them the impression that they were going to use the funds to pursue a case with Baraza to get their money back.

While emphasizing that no one is more eager to get this settled than him, he went on to reiterate that “no one will be asked at anytime to contribute any additional money in order to get their payment.”

Bribena further extended condolences to affected families and reiterated his commitment to transparency and accountability in the recovery process.

It was gathered that members actively engaged in discussions and proposed resolutions to expedite the recovery process.

Some of the resolutions reached include the withdrawal of cases from court for arbitration, involvement of branch presidents in reconciliation efforts, and the liquidation of critical assets to commence payment processes.

“These resolutions reflect the collective determination to overcome challenges and restore stability to the cooperative,” the statement noted.

Mrs. Elizabeth Ayimson and other members in their separate remarks, reaffirmed their solidarity with the Executive Chairman’s efforts.

They also called for unity in dropping legal disputes for the greater good of the cooperative.

On his part, Mr. Daniel Ojoba, Secretary of the cooperative expressed gratitude to attendees and closed the meeting with a prayer.
