The people of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area have been called upon to avail themselves of the window provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the verification and clarification of names and collection of Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) in their Polling Units and wards.
A House of Representatives hopeful under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hon. Preye Oseke made the call shortly after arriving from his country – home Ogboinbiri.
He urged the people to take the exercise very serious, because failure to do so would disenfranchise them from the 2019 general elections.
Hon Oseke Further said “I want to reiterate my call to the people of Southern Ijaw to cross check and verify their names on the INEC register, and also collect their PVCs, so that they can participate in the 2019 general elections”.
According to him, the long suffering of the people would be a thing of the past, if he secures the mandate of the green-chamber of the National Assembly, adding that he will initiate laws that would enhance the wellbeing of the people of Southern Ijaw LGA.
Oseke also noted that INEC should ensure that Logistics are put in place to ensure a hitch free exercise, because the terrain is difficult and should not be used as an excuse to deprive them of their rights.
“I want to use this medium to urge INEC to provide the necessary logistics to ensure a hitch – free exercise and not deprive the people of their electoral rights” he concluded.
