H. E Rt Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi a former deputy governor and speaker of the state assembly clinched the party ticket with 10641 votes with his closest rival Captain Mathew Karimo coming second with 1709 votes in the Bayelsa West Senatorial zone while Chief Abel Ebifemowei clinched the party ticket for the Bayelsa Central with 24,700 votes while his closest rival came a distance second with 2849 votes.

Those who witnessed the election said the election was peaceful, credible, free and fair void of rancor.

“What we have witnessed here is a classic display of a true democratic electioneering process. Today we as a party have set the standard for other political parties to emulate for the peaceful disposition of our members who came out to vote” Hon. Wilson Dauyegha said after the election.

Peremobowei while reacting to his victory said “I gladly accept the nomination of my party for the Bye-election and commend the leadership of the party headed by H. E the Honorable minister of state petroleum resources and members of my constituency”

He further said members of his senatorial district should expect a good representation at the red chambers.

Chief Abel Ebifemowei while also briefing newsmen at the party Secretary after his victory said Bayelsa central will be represented by the APC in the red chambers.

“In the last governorship election the APC got over 80 percent of the votes in central but this time we will make it 90 percent” Chief Ebifemowei said.

The outcome of the primaries means the APC will be going into the polls with candidates that are widely accepted by the vast majority of the party in Bayelsa West and Bayelsa Central senatorial districts.
